The golf course has introduced wildflowers to a number of sites on the course and we plan to continue this practice each year. At the moment we have just under 1Ha of meadows. We have approximately 13Ha of long rough on site and we plan to convert all of this into native perennial wildflower meadows through a mixture of seeding, planting plugs and most importantly through sensible and sensitive management practices of these areas. The benefit to the course’s biodiversity will be huge, and just as importantly from the golfers perspective, will improve the speed of play as these areas are thinly vegetated enough to find stray golf balls. Those golfers who do find themselves in the long rough will hopefully not be quite so frustrated when they see the colour and abundance of pollinators buzzing around them when they play their shot out.
