Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs), Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) Recycling, Food Waste and Packaging discussion.
The EAUC Scotland Waste Management Topic Support Network met virtually on the 23rd May 2024 to discuss how universities and colleges can encourage students, staff and visitors to move towards more sustainable waste management habits. The agenda included:

- 00:03:33 Presentation 1 – Persistent Organic Pollutant (POP) management and legislation in Scotland (Mark Heggie, Senior Policy Officer (National Waste Unit), Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA)) and Q + A.
- 01:04:30 Presentation 2 – Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) Recycling with the University of Glasgow and Volker Gruppe (Tom Bryce, Cleaning & Waste Advisor, University of Glasgow and John Rennie, Operation Manger, Volker Gruppe Limited - EPS Recycling Facility) and Q + A.
- 01:19:25 Roundtable discussion on leftover, uncooked food (introduced by Rory Hill, Sustainability Project Manager – Central and South Scotland College Partnership).
- 01:33:55 Roundtable discussion on other waste management issues of concern to member institutions, including packaging, compostables and other topics.
- 01:57:48 Summary and EAUC updates (Paulo Cruz, Head of Operational Sustainability, Glasgow Caledonian University, Co-convener and Lara Fahey, EAUC Scotland, Scotland Sustainability Project Officer).
