When City of Bristol College encountered a growing number of servers with the related power and cooling requirements, it looked at virtualisation mainly for server consolidation. The result is a major change in its server infrastructure – in just six months it has reduced 20 physical servers to just two on its main campus. Although the installation has not only been simple, it has been relatively cheap over just a six-month period. With the success in the main campus, the plan is to roll out server virtualisation across other campuses.
