Student Sustainability Volunteers provide a key role in supporting sustainability projects and events at the University of Leeds, and make a valuable contribution to delivering positive, sustainable change for the future. Sustainability Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a number of volunteering opportunities, allowing them to tailor their involvement to their needs and interests. Projects have included those focused on community engagement, collecting data for living lab research projects and supporting sustainable transport initiatives. The opportunity gives students the chance to meet and join a network of other students, experience of delivering sustainability projects and events and the chance to engage and communicate with students, staff and members of the public. This is a fantastic learning and development opportunity, and at the same time makes a big difference to sustainability at Leeds. In 2016/17, 3985 student hours were spent on sustainability initiatives and continues to grow year on year as a key way to engage with the student body.
