This handbook is designed to support the work of our members who represent the union on environmental issues. We hope it will help in the appointment of new reps and contribute to our ambition to put sustainability into the mainstream of what we are doing as a union.

In the absence of legal rights to appoint environment reps we recognise that it is not easy to prioritise activity around sustainable development. UCU will continue to campaign within the sector and with the TUC for changes in employment law for proper recognition of this  role.
