Vice Chancellors or Principals may not have the time to read a long report on waste management. They are more likely to want a summary with the key findings, costs and recommendations. It is therefore important to provide the appropriate amount and type of information.
Prior to sending to the Vice Chancellor, it may be helpful if a draft is circulated to the appropriate people (e.g. Head of Estates, Central Services or Assistant Principal) for comment.

Once you have secured the commitment of the Principal or Vice Chancellor, you may suggest that a good way of enlisting support from key heads of departments or sections is by giving a short presentation at one of their regular meetings. This could be preceded by the dissemination of a summary paper, ideally by email, to all heads.
