With the Government’s current interest in the environment and all things ‘green’, the legislation that affects the further and higher education sector is changing all the time. With new Acts of Parliament, changing regulations and updates to guidelines, it is hard for anyone to keep track but knowing how to comply is a must. These updates are only accessible to EAUC Members.

The Finance Act 2011 that replaced the Finance Act 2000 has increased a number of taxes, including environmental taxes, impacting universities and colleges. From April 2012, both the Climate Change Levy paid on electricity, gas and other fuels and the Landfill Tax will increase by around 18% and 14%, respectively. So institutions can achieve significant savings by energy efficiency and minimisation of landfill waste.
