Third round of the Revolving Green Fund - invitation out soon
19th September 2012
The HEFCE Board has approved a third round of the Revolving Green Fund which
will provide at least £20 million capital funding for 2013-14 and 2014-15.
The Revolving Green Fund provides recoverable grants to help higher education institutions (HEIs) in England reduce emissions. Institutions repay the funds through the savings they make.
This amount includes recoverable grant recycled from the first two rounds. The key elements are:
• recoverable grants for projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions
• a project-based model, with funds paid back as projects are completed
• fixed implementation timescales and payback periods
• a mix of small-scale energy efficiency programmes and exemplary retrofit
projects, as with previous rounds.
An invitation to bid is due to be sent out at the end October. Submissions will be reviewed in February 2013 for funding in 2013-14, to be announced in May 2013.
