The Future We Want - Rio+20 text confirmed
20th June 2012
The Rio+20 negotiations have now concluded and a final text has been agreed.
'The Future We Want' intends to put society on a more sustainable path. The text has yet to be signed off by heads of government and ministers but it is unlikely that any changes will be made to the content of the document.
More than 100 world leaders are expected to attend the summit in Rio, including presidents and prime ministers from the large emerging economies such as China, India, Indonesia and South Africa.
From an education perspective, the text has been expanded from what was originally proposed at the beginning of the year and includes a call for institutions to embed sustainability holistically.
