On the evening of Monday 28th March 2011, Oakham-based charity StudentForce for Sustainability will host the Stars of Sustainability Awards at the University of Leicester Students' Union, Percy Gee Building, University Road, LE1 7RH. The event begins at 5pm and finishes at 9pm.
The event will showcase the sustainability project successes of graduates and employers learning and working for a better future in partnership with StudentForce.
Stars of Sustainability is sponsored by The PERA Foundation and the event features fantastic speakers including the Society for the Environment, The Environmentalist Magazine, the Green Party, the Soil Association, the Midlands Co-operative Society and author/documentary-maker Nick Rosen.
The awards all focus on achievements in sustainability working for a better future and include project worker of the year, education sector project worker of the year, outstanding career achievement in sustainability and StudentForce sustainability partner of the year. StudentForce has partnered with Green Rewards among others to offer some fantastic prizes.
Jenny Mace, Sustainability Project Co-ordinator at StudentForce said: "Advancements are being made daily in sustainability by our clients and recent graduate Project Workers. We felt the need to give recognition of the outstanding contributions made by them both. We are thrilled to have such high profile speakers and supporters on-board for our event."
Dan Jacobs, Waste Infrastructure Manager at Norfolk County Council, is a client of StudentForce and a past Project Worker himself. Dan has applied on behalf of Norfolk County Council for the Sustainability Partner of the Year Award and said: "StudentForce has provided a unique, valuable and dedicated resource to Norfolk County Council for the last six years. It has been a pleasure to work in partnership to help work towards achieving the Council's sustainability goals."
StudentForce will run Stars of Sustainability annually to promote the achievements of graduates and organisations in sustainability. Award applications for 2011 have now closed.
