Salix College Energy Fund - New Funding Announced
2nd October 2015
In partnership with the EAUC and supported by the AoC, Salix has announced a further round of 100% interest free funding for energy efficiency and carbon reduction projects in Further Education (FE) Colleges in England and Wales. Applications will be accepted from now through to January 2016.
Salix first started working with the further education sector in 2008 and since then has worked with over 200 colleges. Salix has allocated more than £37m of funding for 1,800 energy efficiency projects using DECC and Learning Skills Council (BIS) funding. These projects, ranging from LED lighting upgrades and BMS to boiler replacements, are estimated to save the further education sector over £105m and 666,000 tonnes of CO2 over their lifetime.
Eligibility and Compliance Criteria
Any FE College that receives a majority of their income directly from the public sector can apply for funding. Salix funds over 120 different technology types and has four compliance criteria:
• Up to a 5 year project payback period
• Less than £100 per tonne of CO2 over the lifetime of the project
• Projects must be additional (i.e could not have happened without Salix funding)
• Projects typically have 9 months to complete
Salix will be accepting applications until close of play Friday 29th January 2016. Early applications are welcomed and projects will be assessed on submission and funding awarded as soon as projects are passed.
