Royal Agricultural University nominated for two awards!

We would like to congratulate our valued EAUC Member, Royal Agricultural University for their nominations for two exciting awards!

The first award nomination is for Pearl Costello who has been shortlisted for the Grow Gloucestershire Showcase Awards, in the Outstanding Intern category.   These awards are to recognise talented young people and the contributions they have made to businesses. 
Pearl joined the RAU as the Environmental Graduate Trainee to assist in raising awareness, improving environmental performance and implementing an accredited EMS. 
The RAU quotes "In a very short space of time, Pearl she has really made a difference throughout the University and has exceeded all expectations.  Levels of awareness are much higher, action plans are in place and RAU now has accreditation to phase 3 of BS8555, all thanks to her hard work.  She also found time to be a member of the panel selecting speakers for the 2014 EAUC conference.  She not only applied her considerable knowledge, but also brought immense enthusiasm to the job and has a way of getting people to do things! "

Secondly, the RAU have also been nominated for the Environmental Business Award in the Gloucestershire Citizen and Gloucestershire Echo Business awards. 
The submission focused on the University’s holistic approach to tackling the issue of climate change in the rural sector by educating and inspiring current and future leaders in agriculture, business, and real estate and land management.  It also demonstrated how RAU sets an example through its own operations.  It included RAU’s work in the following:  sustainability in the curriculum, research programmes and publications, the effects of the biomass district heating system, the design of the new Rural Innovation Centre and the opportunities it provides for knowledge exchange, and implementation of the environmental management system.
