Resources to support Biodiversity Action published

25th March 2025

2021-2030 is the United Nations Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, which calls for collective action to prevent, halt and reverse loss of nature. EAUC Scotland has today launched a new resource package designed to support post-16 education institutions in efforts to protect and restore biodiversity.

The Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan Guide and Template will support sector staff to:

  • Understand what biodiversity is and why it is important
  • Recognise the scale of biodiversity loss to date at a global and national level
  • Explore the drivers for biodiversity loss and how these can relate to educational settings
  • Identify the co-benefits that can be achieved by taking institutional biodiversity action
  • Provide a template and inspiration for creating or updating institutional biodiversity strategies and action plans
  • Access a range of additional resources, including sector case studies.

Emphasising the importance of a whole institution response, this guide will show you that, no matter your role, there are actions you can take within your institution to protect and restore biodiversity.

These resources have been developed by and delivered as part of EAUC Scotland’s Step-Change for Sustainability programme (year 2), funded by the Scottish Funding Council
