Plymouth University sustainability expert contributes to UNESCO global education report
8th November 2016
Work by Stephen Sterling, Professor of Sustainability Education at Plymouth University, has featured in the new Global Education Monitoring (GEM) Report 2016, entitled '
Education for people and planet: Creating Sustainable Futures for All'.
Stephen’s work summarises the contribution of education to meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), after originally appearing in a 2015 report commissioned by the International Council for Science (ICSU). The UNESCO GEM report ‘provides an authoritative account of how education is the most vital input for every dimension of sustainable development’. A summary can be
found here.
The Sustainable Development Goals are the focus of the 2017 EAUC Annual Conference. Entitled '
Global Goals: Local Actions', the conference will take place 28-30 March at Lancaster University.
