OBE awarded to Salix Chief Executive in the Queen's New Year's Honours List
11th January 2017
It is confirmed that Annie Shepperd will receive an OBE for her significant contribution to energy efficiency and child protection over her career. The Queen's New Year Honours Lists 2017 recognises the contribution of a wide range of people across the UK and was announced on the 30th December. Annie is the Chief Executive of Salix Finance and also sits on the board of the Lucy Faithful Foundation, dedicated to the eradication of child sexual abuse.
Below is statement of thanks from Annie on the news.
‘I want to say thank you to whoever nominated me for this and also want to thank the Awards Committee; I am deeply touched to be awarded an OBE. The citation of this Award is for energy efficiency and child protection. I am proud to work for Salix Finance because it is a company with a clear mission to reduce carbon emissions through energy efficiency. Salix is a company that is helping the public sector to act locally and make a difference to the global carbon footprint. There is a talented and committed team that work for Salix and many of them will go on to lead organisations as they grow in confidence and experience. I hope that everyone will share and celebrate this award, as I see it as recognition of the greater contribution that Salix funding is making in the UK. I also sit on the Board of a Charity called the Lucy Faithfull Foundation, which is the only charity in the UK solely dedicated to the eradication of child sexual abuse. This month, young men have come forward to talk about the sexual abuse they suffered in their youth in football clubs. I want to continue in my life making a contribution that just might result in children being safer and the world being a less hostile place for all children who are so easily exploited.
Salix is a remarkable company and every member of staff is making a significant contribution to the reduction of carbon within the UK, with the support of the Board and our partner organisations. Salix has won several business awards in 2016, including the New Energy and Cleantech Award’s, ‘Financier of the Year’ and ‘Company of the Year,’ as well as a UK Green Apple Award 2016. This award in the Queens New Year List is the icing on the cake for Salix and I am thrilled to be a part of it. Thank you to everyone involved.’
