Love food, hate waste: Sustainable food procurement in practice
27th February 2012
This month’s issue of University Business looks into the great work consistently delivered by the University of Durham. With their
Green Gown Award winning Procurement Service and Catering Department, the University offers us an insight into their remarkable achievements in this case study as well as a dedicated session to be delivered at this year’s
EAUC Annual Conference, 27-29 March 2012.
The article outlines just how the University of Durham use their strong sustainability beliefs in a manner that maximises their buying power and in turn formulates a complementing balance which enables them to achieve considerable savings whilst introducing higher quality products produced which are sourced locally.
For even more insight into their programme, attend the Love Food, Hate Waste session on day 3 of the Conference. This session will demonstrate how you can implement the remarkable achievements made by the University of Durham into your own sustainability ethos. A session not to be missed.

This article also expresses how the EAUC embeds this ethos throughout our events, namely our upcoming
EAUC Annual Conference 2012 where not only do we consider welfare and well-being in the selection of our supplies, we are also attentive to detail throughout the manner in which the food is consumed.
