EAUC Scotland Celebrate International RCE Award
9th November 2023
We are delighted to share the
QAA Collaborative Enhancement Project on Monitoring and Evaluation of ESD in Higher Education has won an ‘Outstanding Flagship Project’ Award at the
2023 International Regional Centres of Expertise (RCE) Awards for Innovative Projects on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
This project was led by the
University of St Andrews, with
EAUC Scotland as key partner in the development of the framework and handbook. The
handbook features a series of practical tools, recommendations from interviews with practitioners, and a guiding framework to improve the monitoring, evaluation, and quality of ESD.
The project was supported by
Learning for Sustainability Scotland, the Scottish RCE in Edinburgh, as well as the
University of Edinburgh,
Students Organising for Sustainability UK, and
sparqs.
Established in 2012 by the
United Nations University’s Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability, the RCE Award celebrates projects and programmes on ESD within the Global RCE Network; honouring RCEs from across the world who have made outstanding contributions to address local sustainable development challenges in their regions or countries.
A presentation featuring the project and its resources was also shared at the recent
13th Global RCE Conference in Kuala Lumpur. The conference was held to address the ESD for 2030 five priority action areas, as well as
a series of sub-themes.
This project was funded alongside three other projects by QAA as part of their
Collaborative Enhancement Projects on Education for Sustainable Development programme. This programme aims to support QAA member institutions to work together on projects of shared interest which enhance the quality of their own students' learning experiences and develop outputs to support the wider higher education sector.
