EAUC and Marshall ACM launch a free sustainability elearning resource for Members
9th October 2012
Marshall ACM has joined forces with Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) to create a
free preview of their full sustainability training course.
This taster module, gives institutions valuable insights into the work of the EAUC and provides users with the opportunity to try out a selection of the exercises from the full Marshall ACM training module.
This joint project sees Marshall ACM supporting the EAUC’s goal to drive sustainability into the heart of the further and higher education across the UK by offering Members the support and tools they need to achieve this mighty task.
A targeted module for EAUC Members
From October 2012, EAUC Members will have exclusive free access to a 20-minute ‘introduction to sustainability’ elearning product, available to all staff and students within each EAUC Member institution. This could include managers, heads of department, university stakeholders, academics, students, research and administration staff.
This free introductory module has been designed to broadly cover all universities and colleges within the UK and give institutions the chance to see how they could benefit from the full bespoke version.
EAUC Members can use the free module as a tool to engage and introduce sustainability to a target audience of staff and students not currently involved in sustainability issues, such as green champions.
Users will view various thought-provoking facts and figures to illustrate the positive impact universities and colleges can and do make to driving sustainability forward in their institution, including an engaging introduction from the EAUC’s Chief Executive who explains the wider context and a high-level case for change.
The module then moves to its more interactive content with a number of fun tasks that illustrate the positive impact users can make. This particular section of the module showcases one-fifth of Marshall’s full sustainability e-learning course, demonstrating the potential of the full course.
The final section of the introductory free module demonstrates the EAUC’s role in supporting its members to establish strong sustainability practices and includes useful links to existing Member resources including the new Sustainability Exchange (
www.sustainabilityexchange.ac.uk).
The module has been designed by the EAUC and advised by their Member Advisory Council, a group of EAUC Members who represent the views, needs and requirements of their wider membership.
A 30-minute bespoke module for staff and students
After trying out the free version institutions may be interested in the full 30-minute sustainability elearning module. It’s aimed at staff and students, and can be customised to reflect individual university and colleges’ needs, policies and procedures.
It clearly explains how individual positive action can make a tangible impact; then takes users on a tour of local policies, procedures and management structures. So institutions can build specific details, and aims and objectives into their customised module.
The bespoke module also includes a tracking and reporting facility, vital for monitoring individual users’ progress, and key for ensuring that the course has a real impact across the entire institution.
David Marshall, founder and managing director of Marshall ACM said:
“This innovative e-learning suite developed with the EAUC builds on our work with Stirling, Durham and Reading Universities and, I hope, will be a gateway to sustainability awareness across the higher and further education sector.”
Iain Patton, CEO of Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges said:
“Providing our Members with sustainability tools and resources is what makes EAUC Membership essential. This introductory e-learning module in partnership with Marshall ACM is the first of what we hope will be many new Membership resources through this exciting new partnership. We also recognise the value that a full bespoke module could also bring to an institution in driving engagement.”
