Platinum accreditation to deliver Carbon Literacy Training
15th September 2021
Gaining momentum in 2019, when we started to see a rising interest from our members wishing to become Carbon Literate, two years down the line we are absolutely thrilled to announce that EAUC has met the requirements of the Carbon literate Organisation Standard and is now regarded as a Platinum level Carbon Literate Organisation by the Carbon Literacy Project – the top regarded accreditation in the sector!
Reflecting on this great achievement, our CEO Iain Patton, said:
"EAUC’s knowledgeable and committed staff benefitted so much from our Carbon Literacy Training. And now at Platinum Level, with staff members Claire Mitchell, Claire de la Motte, Scott Thomson and Matt Woodthorpe being fully certified trainers, EAUC is fully equipped to set to empower all our members to deliver a new-zero future and support fellow partners who wish to access this vital training!"
Chloe Andrews, the Higher Education Co-ordinator at The Carbon Literacy Project
shares her thoughts on this achievement too!
Our online Carbon Literacy course is a blended learning experience, with self-study elements alongside two half days virtual training, and is relevant climate change learning for everyone. Following a toolkit developed by Manchester Metropolitan University, the training gives the opportunity to gain a solid awareness of climate change, and the climate impacts of our everyday actions. This engaging and interactive training allows delegates to map their own carbon footprint, gain an understanding and motivation to reduce personal and work-place emissions.
The training welcomes a wide range of further and higher education, as well as sector professionals. They gain an understanding of the basics of climate change science and how we know it’s a problem, explore how climate change is impacting us all now, and how it will in the future. Finally, on completion of the training, delegates are able to identify ways the individual/organisation can act to reduce emissions, benefiting from this in the process.
To date, EAUC delivered and overseen the training and certification as Carbon Literate of 140 people from over 43 institutions across UK & Ireland, including 31 Universities, 7 Colleges and 7 Other related organisations. The success of the Carbon Literacy Training we are conducting is continuously confirmed by the great feedback received from delegates:
