Significant goals attained by City in terms of managing environmental impact
City's Environmental Management System (EMS) has been awarded an EcoCampus Platinum Award and ISO 14001 certification in recognition of the
University's commitment to reducing its impact on the environment and in integrating sustainability into its daily services and activities.
Professor Paul Curran, Vice-Chancellor of City University London says: "We are delighted to have achieved the environmental standards of EcoCampus Platinum and ISO 14001. This is a significant achievement for the University and demonstrates our commitment to both managing our environmental impacts and providing a sustainable learning and working environment for our students and staff."
The EMS, which is now fully operational, will continue to provide a framework for monitoring, measuring and reviewing City's environmental objectives and targets.
EcoCampus is an environmental accreditation and award scheme that is specific to the higher and further education sector. ISO 14001 is the international standard for Environmental Management Systems and is the most widely used EMS in the world.
City became a member of the EcoCampus scheme in 2009, and has since earned Bronze, Silver, Gold, and now, Platinum Awards.
