Champions of the Earth 2015 Nominations
14th April 2015
Following the very successful Award Ceremony and 10th year celebration of the Champions of the Earth in November last year, the call for nominations for the 2015 Champions of the Earth Award has recently been launched.
The Awards seeks to recognise outstanding visionaries and environmental heroes whose actions and leadership have made significant, positive impact on the environment.
2015 is the time for global action to adopt a new sustainable development agenda and to reach a global agreement on climate change. The Champions of the Earth Award seeks to build on these two critical agendas by highlighting people and organisations all over the world that exemplify leadership and advocate action on sustainable development and climate change.
In solidarity with the United Nations 2015: Time for Global Action for People and Planet campaign, and as this year’s Award Ceremony will take place at the UN Summit for the Adoption of the Post-2015 Development Agenda, this year’s Award will focus on:
-
Visionary policy leaders who have demonstrated and inspired global political will in promoting initiatives and policies that advance inclusive and sustainable growth.
-
Forward-looking companies and business leaders who have transformed their business models for sustainable development, and have been leading the way towards green and sustainable investment.
-
Members of the scientific community who have advanced the science-policy interface and continue to offer the best available scientific evidence of risks and opportunities to inform decision-making.
-
Grassroots advocates and doers that empower underserved communities and show how inclusivity can be achieved alongside sustainable prosperity.
The Awards on the whole will seek to exemplify how through a concerted effort among all stakeholders we can realise this vision of a life of dignity for all.
Here at the EAUC we have shown a strong commitment to bringing British sustainability excellence to a global audience, through our
unique memorandum of understanding agreement with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).
Nominations for the 2015 Champions will be open until 30 April 2015 and should be submitted online at
