1st February 2016
The ceremony of the second
Trophées des campus responsables (the French-speaking Green Gown Awards) was held on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at the
OECD (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development) in Paris.
During the ceremony organised by
Campus Responsables, eight institutions from French-speaking regions were rewarded for their efforts in sustainable development and two campus were also highly commended.
With entries received from institutions in Quebec, France and Switzerland, the 2015 awards reflected the commitment of a number of institutions to improve their economic, social and environmental impacts.
Andreas Schleicher, Head of Education and Skills at the OECD, introduced the ceremony, discussing the role that education has to play as an instigator for change and emphasising that it is important to share good practice within the sector.
Didier Hoffschir, Sustainable Development Official for Higher Education and Research then spoke and recalled the support of the Ministry for the initiatives in place to promote campuses that run responsible and sustainable initiatives. He also highlighted the actions of youth and students in preparing for COP21.
The winners were then awarded with trophies and, following the ceremony, a celebratory cocktail allowed everyone to continue networking to discuss sustainable campuses, student involvement, social and societal responsibility, technical innovation, disability and skills, territorial synergies, the quality of student life, and business and entrepreneurship, which are the eight award categories of Trophées des campus responsables.
