4th UNICA Green Academic Footprint Workshop
15th April 2014
From strategic tools to Environmental Management Systems: How to strengthen the sustainability policy of your University.
Université Libre de Bruxelles
EAUC CEO, Iain Patton spoke as a keynote at the 4th UNICA Green Academic Footprint Workshop, international conference on the future of sustainability tools. Representing EAUC Members, Iain presented on leading sustainability in universities and colleges.
The conference itself, addressed different elements of the implementation of environmental sustainability policy at universities: strategic tools, environmental management systems, and the day-to-day work of a sustainable management office. It gathered nearly 40 participants, among them representatives of 10 UNICA member universities, peer networks, and governmental bodies.
The EAUC LiFE Index, which will be re-launched soon free to EAUC Members, was received particularly well. LiFE is a comprehensive performance improvement system developed specifically to help colleges and universities to manage, measure, improve and promote their social responsibility and sustainability performance. Since the workshop, two Belgium universities have lined up to pilot it. There is the opportunity to link two UK Universities with the Belgium pilots and try out the LiFE Index together.
