As part of our commitment to sustainability, our university has committed to increasing the land used on campus for growing food and biodiversity. With this in mind, we installed 24 sustainable larch wood planters on campus at All Saints, which are providing some great opportunities for engaging with our staff and students.
With the help of Hulme Community Garden Centre, the team invited our staff and students to lend a hand and get involved in some lunchtime gardening.
Staff and student volunteers got involved in some general maintenance, planted more varieties of planters and herbs including bulbs for the spring. Over the lunchtime sessions, staff and students dropped by, reaping the many positive impacts on health and well-being gardening can bring. Through Big Impact our sustainability engagement programme, we hold regular maintenance sessions throughout the year, an opportunity to learn more about gardening and help us keep our campus green.
