Presentation from 18th EAUC Annual Conference 2014
Stream: Learning, Teaching and Research
Competancy level: On the road / more advanced
Description:
This session will creatively explore ways of engaging staff and students with sustainability using examples from Canterbury Christ Church University's Futures Initiative, which seeks to embed sustainability in the curriculum, and its Bioversity project, which explores biodiversity and cultural heritage issues through celebration of the University's position within a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Film extracts, photography and music will act as provocations for discussion and activity. The exemplars share a commitment to drawing staff and students outside and beyond the classroom. More significantly they encourage new ways of exploring real world issues.
Speakers:
Professor Peter Vujakovic, Chair of Biodiversity Working Group /Ecology Research Group, Canterbury Christ Church University (CCCU) and Dr Nicola Kemp, Associate Lecturer (Childhood Studies), CCCU.
