A whole university approach to carbon reduction
De Montfort University (DMU) takes a comprehensive approach to managing its carbon emissions. Through the management of the campus and through engaging with staff and students the institution has managed to reduce its emission by 50% compared to its baseline year. Now in the face of the Climate Emergency the University has developed a new plan to reach net carbon zero for the institution.
DMU embraces changes to the physical campus as well as embedding sustainability into teaching and learning and engaging with both staff and students to encourage behaviour change. The University has recently acknowledged the Climate Emergency and made a series of commitments to address its own carbon emissions and to support other to do the same.
