The Sir Doug Ellis Pathway to Healthcare Programme has engaged over 2,000 students since its creation in 2016, expanding knowledge, developing skills and giving an insight into what university life is like to those with ambitions to study a medicine or healthcare-related degree for university.
Aston University’s Medical School first opened in September 2018 after being successful in its application for 100 new government-funded medical training places. Aston Medical School’s mission is to become the most socially-inclusive institution of its kind in the UK, with up to 40% of its intake coming from widening participation backgrounds in Birmingham, the surrounding areas and further afield. The Sir Doug Ellis Pathway to Healthcare Programme is key in delivering Aston University and Aston Medical School’s commitment to greater access to Higher Education.
