Glass bottles
The current trend away from sale of draught beer towards bottled beers and spirit mixes, is resulting in a significant rise in the volume of glass bottles generated.
- Good colour segregation into clear, green or brown is very important in recycling glass.
- There must be little contamination with metal or plastic tops.
- Information on suitable containers for glass collection may be obtained from contractors – e.g. wheelie bins for inaccessible areas. For more information visit British Glass
- Most local councils provide recycling facilities for glass bottles and may be willing to supply special storage containers or banks on campus for segregating bottles into clear, green or brown glass.
- You could also try specialist glass recycling companies such as Berryman
