Presentation from 18th EAUC Annual Conference 2014
Stream: Learning, Teaching and Research
Competancy level: On the road / More advanced
Description:
How can we future proof student outcomes considering that they will inhabit an increasingly complex, interconnected and dynamic world which will require them to deal with the big issues we are facing as a global society? This workshop will draw on a research report on 'Embedding Sustainability into teaching, learning and the curriculum' published in July 2013 to see what generic and key competences and what key sustainability topics need to be embedded.
Some current practice from Blackpool and The Fylde College will be presented by the college and there will be an opportunity to explore an activity of how we can teach critical thinking, a key generic competence, to develop students' sustainability literacy.
Speakers:
Andrea Gewessler, Director, Change that Matters; Kirsti Norris, Sustainability Trainer, Facilitator and Consultant, Action for Sustainability Ltd and Pam Reynolds, Sustainability Manager, Blackpool and the Fylde College.
