Targets for diversion of organic waste away from landfill will mean that increasingly landfill operators will not accept organic waste.
In addition, catering waste that is also animal by-product may only be used for animal consumption in compliance with the Animal By-Product legislation so can no longer be either sold or passed on for pig swill.

Some vegetable wastes may be utilised for animal feedstock. This is dependent on the availability of a suitable local market and the ability to segregate out any animal waste. Contact your local authority, the Environment Agency or SEPA for information.
A few types of food waste may be compostable but under the Food Waste and Animal By-products legislation, relatively few facilities will take it.
