Zero Waste Fashion Design with Holly McQuillan

16th Feb 2018 14:30 – 16:30

Zero waste fashion design practice explores ways and implications of eliminating textile waste from the production of clothing at the pre-consumer stage, specifically through pattern cutting. Holly will talk about both the artistic and pragmatic aspects of Zero Waste Fashion. It is sketching and construction, 2D and 3D, grounded in creativity, experimentation and resource use reduction. Ultimately it is a hybrid, holistic practice which links artistic human expression and pragmatic sustainable design. And we need hybrid fashion processes. “Zero waste fashion isn’t in and of itself good” - but maybe when viewed in this way, it can be.
