Planet Mark Zero Carbon Tour

12th May 2021 11:00 – 17:00

Join the University of Greenwich in making your Zero Carbon Commitment

2021 to 2030 is a critical moment in time. What we do in this period, the Decade of Action, will almost certainly determine the course for humanity and our fellow passengers on planet earth. At the University of Greenwich, we recognise the threat of the climate crisis and have committed to achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030 with Planet Mark.

Like the digital revolution before it, the sustainability revolution is rapidly altering the business landscape. And it’s not just our environment that will reap the benefits. Reducing carbon means reducing energy and consumption, finding efficiencies that save money and add to your bottom line. Businesses with strong sustainability policies have higher retention rates than those that don’t, and the next generation of talent increasingly cares about the social and environmental impact of their employer.

To empower change at scale, we know that we must do more. This is why the university is proudly hosting the first virtual stop on the Planet Mark Zero Carbon Tour, an eight-month series of events showcasing the amazing efforts being undertaken – both locally and globally – to aid in the transition to a net zero carbon economy. Businesses that are net zero are measuring their scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, reducing their scope 1 and 2 emissions to zero, and scope 3 as close to zero as possible while offsetting any residual scope 3 emissions.
In doing so, we are proud to join the UN-backed Race to Zero campaign, the global campaign aims to rally leadership and support from all non-state actors for a healthy, resilient, zero carbon recovery, and join governments, businesses, cities, regions and universities around the world that share the same mission. They hope to inspire action across the education sector, highlighting that with enough ambition and active collaboration they can solve one of the most pressing challenges we face as a generation.

They are excited to invite you to sign up to one, or both, of the events, hosted on Wednesday,12 May and make the first steps to a more sustainable future for your business and for the planet.
