Global Governance of the Environment, Indigenous Peoples and the Rights of Nature: Extractive Industries in the Ecuadorian Amazon Seminar by Dr Linda Etchart

Linda will provide an overview of her book on global governance of the environment which explores the obstacles facing indigenous communities, non-governmental organizations, governments, and international institutions in their attempts to protect the cultures of indigenous peoples and the world's remaining rainforests.

Who this talk is aimed at: Staff, students and members of the public who are interested in environmental and social issues, particularly in relation to the extractive industries.

Bio: Linda Etchart is a lecturer in Human Geography at the University of Kingston, UK. She has published work on conflict transformation, post-conflict reconstruction, women's peace movements, transnational networks, and indigenous environmental activism. She worked for an intergovernmental organization from 2001 to 2004.
