Climate Action and Capacity Building for Higher Education Students

17th Oct 2024 20:00 – 21:00

Registration is now open for a Global Thematic Dialogue that will consider global youth perspectives on climate education as well as explore roadblocks and opportunities for integrating youth perspectives into decision-making.

Presented by the International Universities Climate Alliance (IUCA) as part of the Global Thematic Dialogue Series.

Universities have a leadership role to play in supporting the next generation of climate and sustainability leaders. But are they playing their role? What opportunities do young people see for enhancing practice? The aim is to ensure all students have opportunities to develop the skills they need for current and future leadership on campus, within the local community as well as globally and in their future careers in government, research, corporations, startups, non-profits, and the United Nations.

Drawing on experts and leaders in youth empowerment from the public and private sectors, youth organisations, and universities, this Dialogue will create a space to exchange information and goals ahead of COP29 in Azerbaijan, bringing representatives from across multiple nations together in the youth space.

Outcomes will be presented at youth events at COP29 in November.

We aim to find emergent synchronicities and divergences to begin a dialogue; following several ‘speed-talks’, there will be an opportunity for wider discussion between participants and questions.
