As governance crises worsen COVID-19 impact, is SDG 16 key for recovery?
6th Jul 2021 07:30 – 09:00
07:30 AM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)
Explore how COVID-19 has affected progress on SDG 16, and how interlinkages between Goals can inform recovery.
Without progress in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 (peace, justice, and inclusion) achieving other areas of the 2030 Agenda will be even more difficult. But COVID-19 has slowed all SDG advances and has highlighted governance failures resulting in increased inequalities, deteriorated trust in public intuitions, and decreased access to services – including health services.
To strengthen all aspects of governance, we must understand how the pandemic has redefined the relationship between the state and its people, and how the changing balance of power at all levels can be key for recovery and achieving sustainable development.
This Roundtable will bring together the latest research and expertise on the subject, featuring analysis and perspectives from the Global South.
