The University of Derby run a successful Environmental Champions scheme. Throughout the University and Halls of Residences they have over 90 Environmental Champions (staff and students) dedicated to sharing information and providing advice on environmental and energy issues.

What do Environmental Champions do?

  • Help raise awareness within areas/departments/courses
  • Support the University in meeting the targets in our Environmental Strategies
  • Promote energy efficiency
  • Encourage recycling and good waste management
  • Advise colleagues on the policies, procedures and guidance available
  • Share information/awareness updates from the Environmental Services Team
  • Generate new ideas and provide feedback
