Following COP26 there has been increased momentum around education for sustainable development in universities and colleges. Our 20th January 2022 ESD Topic Support Network aimed to harness that in the first of three 'COP26 Legacy' events, Preparing the Ground: Getting Started with ESD in Your Institution.

The online event highlighted reasons for embedding sustainability across curricula, broke down QAA guidance for ESD, explored how three Scottish institutions began with ESD and allowed attendees to workshop an exemplar ESD activity and practice curriculum mapping.

The recording is aimed at teaching staff and senior leaders with a role in curriculum design. However it may be of interest to anyone in the sector- staff and students.

This video includes:

  • An account of motivations for ESD at Heriott Watt University (9.18)
  • A focus on QAA and Advance HE guidance around beginning ESD (42.30)
  • A case study of how an online sustainable development degree began at University of Highlands and Islands (58.52)
