The main legislative framework for waste in Europe, the Waste Framework Directive, has been revised. As a result, in April 2011, The Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011, The Waste (Scotland) Regulations 2011 and The Waste (Northern Ireland) Regulations 2011 were introduced to enforce the changes to this directive across the UK.
