FHE institutions replace thousands of computers each year. Some will be re-deployed within institutions, but lower specification models will be gratefully accepted for recycling by numerous organisations and charities.

Derby University have used Data link – a Christian UK based charity working in Ghana but there are numerous other charities www.itforcharities.co.uk/donorinf.htm that will take computers and IT equipment.

You need to consider Data Protection issues and Product Liability Legislation – check with your insurers before passing electrical equipment over to charities or other organisations.
