The Making Project was a collaboration between University of the Arts London’s Centre for Sustainable Fashion, London College of Fashion and global, leading brand, Nike to develop a digital tool which would translate data into design practice. Bringing together designers, scientists, coders, academics and students, the project explored the challenge of how to de-couple successful design from the degradation of nature, and created a digital tool (the Making App) to drive innovation and inform choices for a better world. The Making App was launched as a freely available resource on iTunes in July 2013, and has been used by LCF courses and across other universities worldwide. The app achieved over 20, 000 downloads in the first three months and continues to grow by approximately 100 downloads per week.
