In the summer of 2016 University of Cambridge had an intern work with them on a project focusing on waste & recycling. One of the outputs from her work was a guidance document for University staff about recycling and waste.
The university will receive more accurate data on recycling rates at a building/department level from their main waste contractor and once they know which are their poorer-performing buildings/departments they hope to use this document as a prompt for them to encourage improvement of their recycling rates. It therefore collates best practices from around the estate and aims to distill this in a fairly simple way. It also includes a checklist to encourage action on common issues.
Although a lot of the document is University of Cambridge-specific, it is hoped there may be some ideas and inspiration in there which could be of wider use.
